Film Description:
The documentary film “JOURNEY TO THE ESSENCE” introduces the young cellist and conductor Ernesto Insam and his extraordinary Parisian ensemble. A motley composition of languages, cultures, identities and influences makes up the group. And at the same time, it is one and the same endeavour that unites them: leaving the commercial metropolitan milieu to bring classical music where it was once strongly rooted and now threatens to disappear.
Animated by their unconditional devotion to music, the orchestra sets out from the big city to the periphery. The young musicians visit abandoned places, revived villages and natural settings to give the people there what brings them together – music. The result is an incomparable energy and atmosphere that inspires the audience and the musicians alike.
The 48-minute film emphasises the power of music, the beauty of nature and the importance of origin. The audience is taken on a musical journey, experiencing what moves music and how enriching it can be to follow unconventional paths.
