This film is dedicated to the 35th anniversary of Lithuania’s independence and the shared journey to freedom of our nation, scattered across the globe. This film is a series of encounters with the luminaries of Lithuania and the diaspora – well-known and ordinary people who have dedicated their lives to the idea of freedom: Prof. Vytautas Landsbergis, signatories of the Act of Independence, contributors to the Chronicle of the Catholic Church in Lithuania and around the world, US Senator Richard Durbin, and ordinary people, Lithuanians in the US and Australia. This is a story about the thirst for freedom, the stubborn, consistent, “unshakeable” journey towards the goal, regardless of anything else… decades, through darkness, exile, massacres, intimidation and lies, the temptations of the Soviet era and the gloomy silence of that reality; and purposeful activity across the oceans, in the free “Americas,” perhaps never having seen Lithuania, but experiencing the “anxiety” of freedom in the depths of their hearts.
The freedom we have won is the fruit of our common concern, common work, and deep faith in the Lithuanian world.
In today’s geopolitical reality, it is particularly important to understand, remember, and pass on the message to future generations so that we can preserve our freedom.
