“Luminous Icons: Echoes in the Sacred Grottoes” is a full-immersion film project that resurrects the art of sculpture. The audience will descend to the deepcore through the cave entrances inside each headset, excavating the parallel worlds of history sealed in four dynasties – experiencing the fleeting artistic moments of sculptors. Through the first-hand perspective of craftsmen and other eyewitnesses, lead the audience directly into the world of wonder and sculpture, from the lost legends of Mogao Grottoes’ scriptures in the late Qing Dynasty to the crisis of the destruction of Northern Zhou Dynasty statues, and then intervene in the mystery of the birth of Tang Dynasty giant statues, millennium old temples, and the ancient Silk Road, all from the perspective of these statue makers strike you in an instant.
Initiated in 2022, “Luminous Icons: Echoes in the Sacred Grottoes” is a project which aims to reasearch the art of sculpture. Under the worldview of deepcore, uncovering ancient historical legends and unreachable time & space.
