Film Description:

“Built By Hand. Born from The Soul” tells the story of Siesta Campers’ origins—a family’s dream that began under an Alfarroba tree, restoring vintage VW Kombis by hand. Each van, carefully rebuilt, carries a spirit of freedom and intentional creation.

That same soul flows into the shaping of surfboards from natural agave, where hands, dust, and dedication bring form to function. From workshops to winding roads, from golden coastlines to rolling waves, the film celebrates heritage, sustainability, and the freedom of vanlife, showing how craftsmanship and soulful travel are inseparable.

Runtime: 13 minutes 45 seconds

Film Description:

Based on a true story of domestic violence reported in Italy on February 2025. A film with no words – only the truth that was silenced for too long.
A man holds his wife prisoner in the crypt of a deconsecrated church. He daily brings her junk food and let her “do her things” in a bucket. She is forced to sleep on a dirty mattress on the floor.
On top of this, he rapes her every day.
During a short walk to give his wife a breath of fresh air, the man was discovered by an onlooker and reported it to the police.
1 in 3 women in Italy have disclosed physical and/or sexual violence. The psychological aftermath of abuse very often include Stockholm Syndrome, when victims develop an emotional bond with their captions or abusers and even defend them against help. A tragic bond born not of love, but of survival. The film was shot in Palermo. This film is a powerful and disturbing testimony to the brutal reality of domestic violence, aiming to shed light on a silent epidemic often hidden behind closed doors. Taking a dialogue-free approach, the film emphasizes raw emotions and universal human suffering, allowing viewers to experience the story beyond language barriers and social silence.
Based on a true story from Italy, the film highlights the urgent need to address domestic violence and its devastating impact on victims, especially women.
Through essential, minimalist images, the film portrays the harrowing conditions of captivity: a man imprisoning his wife in a crypt, the abandonment, abuse, and psychological turmoil that ensues.
Shot in Palermo, the crypt of the deconsecrated church serves as a haunting backdrop, symbolizing both spiritual decay and hidden suffering, underscoring the clandestine nature of such violence. By avoiding words, the film seeks to evoke empathy and awareness, confronting viewers with uncomfortable truths that are often silenced or ignored.
Incorporating statistics—such as 1 in 3 women in Italy experiences violence—and referencing the psychological phenomenon of Stockholm Syndrome, the film highlights the complexity of victimization and resilience: victims develop an emotional bond with their tormentors or aggressors and even defend them from help.
The film aims to serve as a stark reminder of the prevalence and severity of domestic violence, encouraging reflection and social action. It promotes awareness, support for victims, and more effective measures to prevent such tragedies.
With the support of the Mayor of Palermo and the Department of Culture, the project highlights local commitment to addressing domestic violence and promoting cultural dialogue on this critical issue.
This film aspires to be a visceral and unspoken cry for justice and change, bringing to light long-silenced truths through the universal language of visual storytelling. During a short walk to give his wife a breath of fresh air, the man is discovered by a woman who reports the incident to the police. A year later, the wife, physically free, still has positive feelings toward her arrested husband.

When a small-time street vendor notices a strange man observing him from a distance, unease quietly takes root. What begins as a passing glance becomes a lingering presence. In his search for rational, institutional, and spiritual explanations, he encounters only indifference, evasion, and hard truths.

His journey spirals inward as much as outward, forcing him to confront not just who the watcher might be—but why the gaze unsettles him so deeply.

A psychological slow-burn, The Watcher explores how fear feeds on ambiguity, and how isolation amplifies the quietest threats.
