Based on a true story of domestic violence reported in Italy on February 2025. A film with no words – only the truth that was silenced for too long.
A man holds his wife prisoner in the crypt of a deconsecrated church. He daily brings her junk food and let her “do her things” in a bucket. She is forced to sleep on a dirty mattress on the floor.
On top of this, he rapes her every day.
During a short walk to give his wife a breath of fresh air, the man was discovered by an onlooker and reported it to the police.
1 in 3 women in Italy have disclosed physical and/or sexual violence. The psychological aftermath of abuse very often include Stockholm Syndrome, when victims develop an emotional bond with their captions or abusers and even defend them against help. A tragic bond born not of love, but of survival. The film was shot in Palermo. This film is a powerful and disturbing testimony to the brutal reality of domestic violence, aiming to shed light on a silent epidemic often hidden behind closed doors. Taking a dialogue-free approach, the film emphasizes raw emotions and universal human suffering, allowing viewers to experience the story beyond language barriers and social silence.
